Robert Richards, 2001 The Founder's Purchase Award for 2001 was awarded to Robert W. Richards for his drawing, Will, which was exhibited in the August show, Boy Bordello. Robert has been drawing in New York City for longer than he cares to admit. During the 70's and 80's he covered the French and Italian haute couture collections for the Chicago Daily News and incredibly, the Christian Science Monitor. Feeling that he'd drawn enough dresses, he moved on to corporate images, celebrity portraits and, naturally, porn. Recent projects have included the posters for Al Pacino's "Hughie", the revival of Noel Coward's "Present Laughter" and the award winning packaging for Lena Horne's "We'll be Together Again" CD. He's especially proud of his long artistic association with the late Peter Allen from the triumphs at Radio City to the heartache of "Legs Diamond." Currently his porn-star drawings and interviews can be seen in HX magazine, his story illustrations appear in Mandate, Torso, Playguy and Inches. Robert regularly attends the Leslie-Lohman Erotic Drawing Workshop. |
