Ed Cervone (1945 - 2001)

Born in Germany at the close of WW II Ed arrived in the U.S.A. at the age of five.

He made his first "mark in the art world" at age nine by winning a $100 U.S. Savings Bond in a coloring contest sponsored by the NY Daily Mirror.

After attending high school in New York City, he lived in Boston for several years as art director at the Sanson Institute of Heraldry.

It was upon his return to New York that his erotic art began to flourish.

Shortly after exhibiting with the Leslie-Lohman Gallery in the early eighties he was introduced by the same to doing art work for various gay publications, such as, Honcho, Mandate, Playguy, and others. His work was also showcased in the February 1986 edition of Advocate Men.

Because of his versatility with the nude figure, he also did work for several non-gay publications as well. His most recent venture, once again sparked by the Leslie-Lohman gallery, was doing cartoon illustration for Blueboy magazine, which subsequently has led to further creative work for Black Inches.

A good part of his income was from heraldry, but he continued to be most inspired when he could work with the human form.
