Johann Van Wyk is a New York based jewelry designer turned sculptor and attracted by the exotic. His attraction to photography as expressive medium lies in the fact that photographs capture moments in time, like human memory, which consists of a series of remembered instances. These memories form the fabric of our interior lives and our sense of who we are, however, when captured by the camera, these moments are made visible, and shared as collective memory. The artist stands humbly before the perfection and abundance of creativity in nature, and finds endless inspiration in the nude body for his work. The models Johann uses all form part of his greatest moments and memories. |
