Pork was a collective who originally met at the LURE on Wednesday nights to create art in an atmosphere free of the inhibitations of the standard art school environment (somewhat like the Leslie-Lohman Queer Men's Erotic Art Workshop). The event generally began sometime after 10 pm on Wednesday nights. Some of the materials were provided by the bar. After the LURE closed Pork moved to the Eagle Bar where it existed until recently when Pork was disbanded (late 2004). A great deal of the work remained at the Eagle not retrieved by the artists due to its size and difficulty of storage. John Lovett, Director of Pork, realizing that the work must be preserved, called Leslie-Lohman to ascertain if LLGAF was interested in archieving the work. Of course, Leslie-Lohman said, yes.

There are 70+ pieces by eleven known artists and several unknown. The work is large (see pictures at sides of this section). Much of it is severely damaged with tattered and splintered edges, holes and scrapes, and many of the works on foar core have duct tape all over them. They were hung, taken down and rehung as need/desire dictated.

There are some real gems here created by artists of very high caliber. It is a record of a time and place and some artists whom we may never hear from again. Therefore, we proudly present a selection of the works below for your viewing pleasure.
