THE GEORGE DUDLEY ARCHIVES is named after the first director of the Foundation, George Dudley. Mr. Dudley early on recognized the need for not only showing, collecting and preserving gay art but also the need for documentation of the LGBTQ artists' life. LGBTQ artists are often marginalized, especially in our early history and few records exist of their contributions to our culture. Therefore, it is important to set the record "straight," so to speak.

The urgency of this project is evident by the fact that so many names have been lost and are unrecoverable. However, by making the effort to uncover the evidence we are validating our lives and confirming our valuable contributions to society. The role of the artist is to question and what better person to question than a gay artist. Gay people have a special vantage point of reference and although it is often outside the norm it is a valid point of view often overlooked in critics and historians assessment of fashion, utility, and creative vision.

THE ARTISTS' RECORDS consist of hundreds of files on gay and lesbian artists. Information is often scant and sometimes even non-existent. But, we set up a file even if we have only a name. If anyone knows of a LGBTQ artist please aprize us of them especially if you have background information on the artist. If you have any informaiton on an artist you think may be pertinent to LLGAF please email us — these records are important.

THE LIBRARY consists of books, magazines and pamphlets, etc., pertinent to gay artists and art historical events.

PUBLICATIONS by the Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation are for sale to benefit the foundation.

THE JOURNAL, The Archive, is a quarterly journal of the gay arts published by the foundation. It includes interviews with artists and pertinent information about the foundation's collections and events.

THE WEBSITE as you can see is quite extensive and contains many images from the collection as well as work for sale from artists.
