Roy Blakey Born 1930 Roy Blakey traces his interest in photography back to his army days in the 1950s. Upon his discharge he pursued another of his talents, figure skating, and toured for many years with Holiday on Ice. He decided that 1967 should be his last show when it ended its tour in New York City . By that time he had become so enthusiastic about the city he decided to stay. Blakey, in contrast to other physique photographers distinguished himself by classically posing his models in compositions, dramatically lit, revealing the male nude against a seamless void. His work frequently appeared in publications, such as, After Dark. Reed Massengill, Roy Blakey's '70s Male Nudes ( New York : Goliath Books, 2002).
